The first weekend in June (yes, I'm a bit behind on updating my blog!) the Dahlquist's came out to visit! We were so happy to have them here, and they were very excited to meet Bodee! First thing's first... everyone one wanted to hold the baby! Notice the Twins socks and Nuk... one of the many gifts from J&K. Start 'em young! Love it!
The night they got in also happened to be the night of Matt's band, Drop 6, CD release party! It was a huge night for his band as they have accomplished so much in the past few years and were releasing their first CD! ... insert plug here: the CD is available on iTunes. :) Kelly and I hit up the show and Jess stayed home to babysit. Thanks Jess!!
Saturday morning we hit up the neighborhood pool for "Family and Friends Day." It was a gorgeous day out! Here's Tay in her full swim get-up:
Bodee enjoying the view..
Connor all tuckered out from playing..
They also had kids swimming competitions. Tay was the anchor for her relay team and they won! :)
That night Matt played a solo show on the rooftop of Sports Column in LoDo. The kids loved dancing to his tunes.
Sunday we drove up Mount Evans. The road to the crest is the highest paved road in North America! Toward the top the road was very steep, narrow, had many switchbacks and very steep drop off edges... I'm glad I wasn't driving! Here are a few shots from our stops along the way:
At the Crest House! ... aka, "Castle in the Sky!" :) The road to the crest was built in 1927 and the Crest House was completed in 1942. At one time it contained a restaurant and gift shop but it burned down in 1979 and was never rebuilt. The rock structure in the next few pictures is what remained.
Beautiful view! Denver is in the distance..
Bench mark at elevation 14,127!
The last night before the Dahlquist crew headed home we enjoyed a nice little bonfire in the backyard.
It was a great weekend! Thanks so much for coming to visit Kelly, Jess, Taylor and Connor! We had a blast hanging out with you! See you soon!
